Another Jock on his way ?

It's amazing how many Jocks hold managerial positions in England, another is looming as Wyness has just quit Pittodrie. Keith Wyness last night resigned from his post as Aberdeen CE in order to join us.

This has been in the offing for a while. Scottish football offers only limited challenges so, frankly, who can blame him?

This interview from 2001 will tell you some more about him.

Bluekipper has posted some USA photos

Excellent.

Sue you sir?

Paul Gregg is threatening to take legal action in a bid to remove Bill Kenwright as Everton chairman. Just what we need, more turmoil.

Wouldn't it be better sorted 'amicably' rather than the pair of them wasting money on lawyers? I tell you, lawyers are even worse pedantic, condescending gobsh/tes than football agents. Lawyers shouldn't be given as much as the steam from your urine.

Deadline passes without an announcement.

Kenwright appears to have allowed this latest deadline to pass without confirming his intentions. He is probably very upset and that in itself is sufficient grounds for some delay, say by a few hours? He's only human and a bit of emotion-fuelled resistance wouldn't make him a bad fella in itself. He's not the only one upset though and hopefully this weekend will see the matter resolved, in favour of Gregg and Lord Grantchester.

So come on then Bill, it's been the ride of your life, the party you dreamed of, but the music's stopped and the wine's all gone. So take one more long, hard look at those team photos from yesteryear, listen once again to the whispers in your mind, then grab your jacket and walk out with your head held high.

At the time of writing, you the readers, have voted as follows in the 'Which director do you want at the helm, come the start of the season?' poll, on the right hand side of this page:

Gregg, some money but no passion, has to use the
AA route find to get to Goodison? 57% [65Nr]

Kenwright, loves Everton but is seemingly on the
bones of his @rse and mixes sentiment with business? 11% [12Nr]

A new start, I want them ALL to 'do one' now. 32% [36 Nr]

No change, let's carry on as we are. 1% [1 Nr]

[114 votes in total]

Does the person who voted for 'No change' know something that the rest of us don't?

High Five. Everton slam dunk Pachuca.

Our pre-match meal will be Fajitas henceforth.

Match report is here, and another version here.

Some 'awesome coversions into the score bag' so it should have been a good advert for the World's Favourite Game for all the watching Yanks. Apparently it was just like watching Brazil.

Digressing wildly, this fella's not always, but is usually a good read.

Don't forget, keep near a radio or the internet today, the announcement that's going to shape our Club's short term future will be made.

Just over 2 weeks to go - predictions and reviews wanted this season.

Not long to go now. The first game, home v @rse, is on Sunday 15th August at 14.00

Now, I would like some specific feedback from you lot.

I'll be posting a poll in the week or so before each match next season and you'll be able to vote, based upon your prediction of the outcome. It will be interesting to see how accurate the majority are.

The @rse poll is on the right hand side of this page. Who will we have in the starting 11? Will Vieira be playing?

Also, I would like to invite you to submit your match reviews [not exceeding 500 words] after each game, including friendlies [anybody in Texas?]. Edited selections from the best reviews [in my opinion] will be posted upon this site, together with the author's name.

Listen here.

Everton have commentary on the game v Pachuca here.

It's due to kick off around 01.30 tomorrow [Friday] morning.

Go on, you won't sleep anyway knowing that they're playing.

Toby not to be.

A sale at a loss looms, this time, it's Linderoth, who is poised to join FC Copenhagen for between £1m and £1.5m.

Remember the infamous 'scally clothing' comments? Ha!

So goodbye then, it's been .... erm .... average.

::: Kind of Blue ? How much do you love your football ?:::

I'm interested to find out more about the strange cats* that frequent this site. I'd be grateful if you would let me [and the other regular readers] know of your viewing habits, by completing the poll 'Kind of Blue?' which is to the right hand side of this page.
Tar lar.

* judging by some of the e-mails I've had!

Wham! Ban! Thank you Van.

Red card means instant ban.

Players sent off in the new season will be banned from the next game.

Van Damn - he wants a big one.

Van Bommel has announced that he is not interested in signing for us, citing our smaller size than PSV.

So size does matter. Oh well.

If only we could have been allowed by the lovely UEFA to participate in [and consequently win] the European Cup in the late 80s [the time when it really began to matter]; I wonder what 'size' and state we'd be in today?

The Board, signings, USA and the ongoing snipe-fest led by the red top rags.

Parental advisory: some of the content of this entry is for over 18s only.

Board meeting.

Today's Board meeting ended with a short and to-the-point statement. So, the result[s] shall be known this Friday.

The recently opened Bluekipper poll, 'WHO WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE AT THE HELM OF OUR CLUB?' questioning the fans about their chosen Director, currently stands at:

77%
in favour of Gregg and
23%
opting for Kenwright.

Interestingly, the current poll on Trinity Mirror's icLiverpool site, asking to all intents and purposes, the same question, currently stands at:

42% opting for Kenwright,
39% in favour of Gregg and
19% opting for somebody else.

Playing staff.

Bosnar appears set to sign and we are being heavily linked with Van Bommel.

Watson has come out with the usual fine words. A no-nonsense fella, hope he regains his '2002/03 fitness levels' next season.

StubbsBlog!

This very useful article on Toffeeweb, does a very good job at blowing away some of the smoke and smashing some of the convex mirrors, that the red tops are currently utilising, in order to portray our club in their desired manner.

From Toffeeweb:

So these make up the rest of 16 Disappeared ones? Let's summarize:

  • Less than half of the sixteen have ever played for the Everton first team.
  • Less than one third of them played any part in last season's admittedly dismal senior performances
  • Only three of them scored any goals for Everton last season
  • Two of them are goalies who are simply not good enough (cf Martyn, Wright & Turner)
  • Only two of the 16 could even be considered as key players

The best things in life are free
But you can keep it for the birds and bees.

I thought Brookside was off-air
. It is common knowledge that Rooney has jumped into bed with some wrong ones, and I'm not talking about the ex-La Femme girl. Unfortunately he let a red top into his parlour without realising that they would most likely case the joint. Didn't he read about the Big Bad Wolf as a kid? Modern, politically correct, ultra-liberal schooling has much to answer for.

Now gimme money (that's what I want)

With many clubs touring the States this summer and Far East connections being built apace, the national game undoubtedly has an international business plan. Keeping Rooney is therefore crucial in order to keep us in the spotlight, as far as those the floating voters who live beyond these shores are concerned.
