Liverpool FC epetition, 100,000 sigs re Hillsborough disaster
I was particularly upset by the Hillsborough tragedy as besides the huge loss of innocent lives, my brother's good friend Gordon Horn was killed there and my friend Andrew Devine was, to this day, left severely brain damaged. Andrew's and his family's difficulties are not very widely known about:

One of my brothers, a long time season ticket holder at Everton was due to be with Gordon Horn that day at Hillsborough, but as he couldn't get a ticket, never went. Gordon and Andrew were both there legitimately, they both had tickets. That was the way it was then, it was a simpler time and reds and blues would sometimes attend each other's games with their mates. Watching footy with their mates was not 100% club based.
A petition calling for Hillsborough disaster Cabinet papers to be released has reached 100,000 signatures - enough for a Commons debate to be considered. This should be interesting, I don't imagine the Govt anticipated such big interest in their epetition site. The site has a great potential, at least on the surface, as it appears to be a powerful democratic tool. Unfortunately, I think passing the 100,000 signature mark means the Govt only have to "consider" a matter, I don't think it definitely triggers a formal debate.
The petition doesn't close until 09/08/2012 so that may mean that any resulting debate may be at least a year off, I'm not sure how it works...
